Monica Layardi
Monica Layardi is a graduating student of the BA (Hons) Fashion Media and Industries programme at LASALLE College of the Arts, with a multidisciplinary background in content creation, branding and visual communication. She works across photography, design and marketing, combining creative direction with hands-on execution. Her experience spans both the fashion and beauty industries, where she has contributed to campaigns, retail experiences and visual storytelling. Adaptable and detail-oriented, Monica is known for her ability to take on diverse roles within a project, from developing concepts and producing visuals to supporting operations and client-facing work. She is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate and Blender, and is comfortable working across both digital and physical outputs. She is also a collaborative team player who communicates thoughtfully while contributing ideas. As she enters the industry, she aims to continue developing her skills across disciplines, bringing a well-rounded perspective to projects that require both visual sensitivity and strategic thinking.
ORO is a fashion publication targeted at fashion audiences in Singapore that positions older individuals within contemporary fashion, challenging the perception that fashion relevance declines with age through contemporary styling and image-making. This project serves as a response to the lack of representation of the older bodies in fashion and media, where visibility is overwhelmingly reserved for the young. By placing older individuals as the primary subjects of the publication, the project challenges narrow ideals perpetuated by media representation that reinforces ageism, offering a more inclusive vision of fashion. ORO contributes to discussions around representation, identity and media influence by expanding the boundaries as to who is seen as relevant within fashion imagery.
