B-Side!

Yong Xin Ying Celine

Singapore

Yong Xin Ying Celine is an individual who is moulded through experience and various encounters, Celine is on a journey to become a well-rounded and multi-faceted individual who aims to leave a lasting impression wherever she goes.

B-Side! is a digital exhibition that aims to lift the curtains to a side of dress that tends to get ignored: the backside. The articulation of identity and embodiment of dress is explored through a short film as a reminder that Fashion is more than just an image.

B-Side! aims to mock the presentation of Fashion on digital media, frontal and flat, as a reminder that bodies and the world we live in are three-dimensional. Dress as a “social and personal experience” should be regarded more than just an image but a somatic phenomenon that involves the lived body. Therefore, through the lens of the back view, it seeks to breathe life back into a side of body that is often neglected and almost foreign.

Shining a spotlight on to the back-side of dress and bodies.
