Spectre

Ho Hui Juan Ruth Francesca

Singapore

Ruth is a fun and youthful designer who is not only versatile in her work, but is a team player. She has the professional capacity to take design to the next level. Ruth is fearless and committed to achieve only the best.

Spectre is a publication that strives to challenge the oversexualised notion of what it means to be a woman in today's world. The publication features three central themes of the female self: the canvas, the love, and the strength, which explores the various stages and intersectionalities of her identity.

Spectre invites readers to engage in the discourse on self-discovery and acceptance by stimulating reflection through curated nuances in the publication’s evocative imagery and narrative. The title, Spectre, represents the repressed or forgotten aspects of our identity that often get overlooked. The publication highlights the “making of” a woman to showcase how femininity can be constructed through makeup, dress and pose. By transiently becoming the various personas, the model highlights how the characteristics of femininity are not limited to the media’s depiction but rather, belong on a spectrum instead.

Spectre presents an alternate view of the female self by showcasing the intersection of values that shape one’s identity.
