Danessa is a multi-hyphenated individual whose skillset includes styling, set design and graphic design. She is a polyglot with the ability to speak five languages, largely stemming from the interest she has in the world of post-humanism and science fiction. Through her work, she aims to inspire audiences to have a fresh perspective on the identities created through fashion imagery.
Odyssey of the Doubles is a conceptual film that explores social identities through the articulation of double identities. It speculates and envisions future landscapes as a response to the commodification of one living in the modern world. This project considers the relationship between humans and their social media personas while exploring imagery that relates to the duality of human nature.
Inspired by Danessa’s own experience of having an identical twin and her interest in topics and concepts dabbling in duality and constant desire for an individual identity, Odyssey of the Doubles is a narrative that discusses the loss of identity and humanity in society due to extreme cases of online ‘fraud’. The short film narrates the story of an individual who has fallen victim to such conduct in society and seeks freedom to escape from it. Odyssey of the Doubles is set in a vividly imaginative future world, presented in a Utopian and Dystopian terrain in real-world landscapes to shine an uncomfortable spotlight on the ways we are living.
