Nguyen Minh Ha is a young Vietnamese fashion experimenter who wish to create impact in the design process.
Growing up with extreme body dysmorphia, Minh Ha was always plagued by a feeling of inadequacy. As a fashion designer, Minh Ha wanted to play a crucial part in changing this deep-rooted matter. Minh Ha tries to do this by distorting and exaggerating the human figure.
Grotesque Matter is a practice, an experiment with the grotesque and the ‘ inside-out ‘ aspects of the body as the main medium. The grotesque body is not just a distorted figure, but it is a figure of profound ambivalence. It is fascinating to acknowledge that we are born owning our own bodies, but at the same time, we feel trapped as if we have no control over it. And the relationship we have with our own bodies is beyond complex.
