Vidushi Jain is a final-year student in the BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles Programme, majoring in womenswear tailoring at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore. She is proficient in pattern drafting, cutting, machine and hand sewing, tailoring, hand painting and illustrating.The contemporary silhouettes and fusion ethnic wear is what intrigues her the most as a designer.
Vidushi Jain designs are a mix of traditional crafts and contemporary designs. Jain design not only aim to create awareness about the age old techniques that needs to be preserved but it also explore a way to revive them by contemporising the designs without changing the significance of the designs.
Memoir is a melange of Indian heritage and contemporary fashion which is reflected in creative cutting approach of panelling. The collection aims to reimagine some of the pleats and folds of sari and ghagra (traditional Indian skirt) in a more contemporary and fashionable manner which caters for a special occasion dresses for the customers. The traditional embroideries on the garments is done in collaboration with local artisans in India. It narrates a story about a small city in India that has a special place in designer’s heart. Embroideries on the garments are placed in a manner which makes it more appropriate for contemporary living.
