Sheila Tjandra

Indonesia

Sheila Tjandra is a final year textile and fashion design student at Lasalle College Bachelors in Art: Fashion Design and Textile. Specializing in Textiles for fashion and Draping. She loves to play and explore with colours and unconventional materials.

Being a very experimental person, Sheila Tjandra's works often aim towards maximalism and involving nature as her primary materials through hand-crafting, beading, embroidery, dye, and print-making.

This collection is inspired by the current situation of the environmental issues that happens in this world. Countless fashion problems such as overconsumption of fewer fabrics that can be recycled and the use of hazardous chemicals in the industry keep increasing.

It creates a narrative in which the mother nature send a message to the world that this need to change, we as designers should be mindful and conscious of how we embed beauty and longetivity through fashion, creating things from nature that can go back to nature through craft and textile.

This collection is inspired from the current environmental issues in this world that has been produced from the fashion industry through the used of natural dye materials.
