Wentong is a textile designer. She focuses on knitwear and knit accessories. Her designs combine hand knitting, machine knitting and woven fabric for creativity and wearability.
The designs often draw inspiration from traditional craftsmanship, combining traditional and contemporary elements and focusing on the use of diverse knitting techniques and the matching of different yarns and fabrics.
‘Shan(缮)’ is inspired by the designer's childhood memories of repairing broken porcelain in a porcelain workshop in her hometown. The reconstruction of the broken and repaired porcelain corresponds to the combination of knitted fabrics and woven fabrics, the combination of hand knitting, machine knitting and crochet techniques, and the patchwork of color blocks or patterns. This collection is made seasonless for the whole year, with fabrics and yarns made of organic and natural materials, partly dyed with seed and flower of plants.
